The wait that seems to last an eternity for iPhone lovers is finally over, as Apple unveiled its latest high-end flagship smartphones at its annual event on 7th, September 2022. Dubbed by the company as “Far Out,” this event featured the launching of everything new in Apple, including the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Apple also launched its latest smartwatches and AirPods, including Apple Watch Ultra, New AirPods Pro, Apple Watch Series 8, and the new Apple Watch SE. As expected, unveiling the new phones was the event’s highlight, as all the rumors that have gone about for almost a year are now finally replaced by glaring facts.
While it’s exciting to see the new iPhone 14 series and its new features, Apple seemed to reserve its most interesting modifications for the iPhone 14 Pro and its much bigger sibling, the iPhone 14 Pro Max. These two models stood out the first glance from others in the series, featuring the long-rumored notch-less screen. The controversial notch on former iPhone models is now replaced by a pill-shaped cut-out on the screen housing the camera and Face ID components. Apart from the pill-shaped notch, the iPhone 14 Pro models also come with other brilliant, distinctive features such as an A16 bionic chipset, a 48MP primary camera, etc. Buckle your seatbelt as this article explores every detail you need to know about the new iPhone 14 Pro.
The rearview of the iPhone 14 Pro shares an almost identical look with its predecessor, the iPhone 13 Pro, although the size of the camera sensors and the phone thickness have slightly increased. Both phone models feature surgical-stainless steel edge design and Ceramic Shield glass for front protection. The textured matte glass rear design is also here to stay. However, Apple decided to add Space Black and Deep Purple to its Gold and Silver returning colors and do away with Silver Blue, Alpine Green, and Graphite colors that came with iPhone 13 Pro.
While there are not many changes on the rearview of the iPhone 14 Pro, its frontal design features some glaring changes. The biggest change is the removal of the notch on the formal iPhone model with a pill-shaped notch that Apple calls “Dynamic Island.” While many find the name ridiculous, this long-rumored design is a brilliant one that separates the iPhone 14 Pro models from others in the series. Essentially, the pill-shape cut out of the dynamic Island dynamically changes in size and shape to display notifications and alerts and control background activities by simply tapping and holding it. This makes it as useful as it is beautiful.
The iPhone 14 Pro features the same 6.1In OLED display and 460ppi pixel density as the 13 Pro. However, the former has thinner borders and a higher screen-to-body ratio due to the pill-shaped notch. The iPhone 14 Pro also features a new Super Retina XDR display which allows its brightness to go as high as 2,000 nits, equaling the Pro display XDR. The phone has the highest brightness for any phone under bright light and is twice as bright as the iPhone 13 Pro. With better display capabilities, the iPhone 14 Pro is good news for lovers of HD videos and online games, as it provides a better experience. Another feature of the iPhone 14 Pro is the new Always-On display, which is new to iPhones. Thanks to Updated ProMotion and enhanced power-saving techs, the iPhone 14 Pro can lower its refresh rate to 1Hz. This makes it capable of staying on always, even in lock screen mode. The Always-On mode displays important information, notifications, and Live activities at a glance while the Wallpaper is kept dim.
The iPhone 14 Pro features the first 48 MP camera on iPhone, a huge improvement on the 12MP camera on the former models. The camera features a quad-pixel sensor that compresses the detail of the 48MP photo to a 12MP. This quad-pixel sensor uses “pixel binning” to combine four pixels into one to enhance low-light performance.
Apple has also developed a new method of processing images called Photonic Engine. This engine provides an even better low-light performance and enables the phone to capture more detailed images with enhanced color accuracy.
The battery life of the iPhone 14 Pro is good news for users as it offers a 23-hour video playback time, lasting an hour more than the iPhone 13 Pro. While this is not a vast improvement, the battery life is long-lasting enough for any phone user. However, Apple outdid itself on the iPhone 14 Pro Max battery life, which lasts 29 hours on video playback.
The iPhone 14 Pro features Apple’s new A16 Bionic Chipset, an improvement on the A15 Bionic processor present in iPhone 13 Pro. This new feature also separates iPhone 14 pro models from the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus built on last year’s A15. The A16 Bionic processor is built on the 4-nanometer node architecture, unlike the 5nm in the A15 chipset, making the iPhone 14 way faster and more efficient. The A16 has a new 5-core GPU, an enhanced 16-core Neural Engine, 6-core CPU that provides up to 40 percent enhanced performance.
From the notch-less “Display Island” design and all-day battery life to a new 48 MP camera and AI6 Bionic processor, it’s safe to say Apple expanded its boundaries on the iPhone 14 Pro models. Don’t forget to visit Parimatch for a fantastic experience betting on your favorite games.
