If you ask me what my goal is or should be, my answer is always the same: to be less self-conscious. One of the ways I do this by learning to be more aware of my body, my words, my actions, and my surroundings.
To me, it’s a simple rule: Be less self-conscious. As a rule, I try to never make assumptions about what someone is thinking or feeling when I’m talking to them. I’m not just asking, “What do you want?” I’m telling them about my goals, my dreams, my dreams for the future, etc.
The problem is when we have to make assumptions like that. I have a friend who is a medical doctor (a medical doctor who is also a psychologist). During a conversation with a colleague for instance, she will say, “Doctor, I was just talking to my friend about what we were doing. He said I was thinking about my dream of being a doctor.
She’s not wrong. Most human beings are thinking about something, feeling, or making a decision. For instance, what do you think Im talking to her about? Im not just asking, What do you want Im telling her about my goals, my dreams, my dreams for the future, etc.
